Monochrome Majesty, an international exhibition hosted by Art4you Gallery under the curatorship of Jesno Jackson, was a dialogue in black, white, and gold. Held at Mehromah Art Gallery, Dubai, the show that closed doors on November 12, brought together global artists, interior designers, architects, collectors, cultural and art patrons, to explore the timeless sophistication of black, white, and gold through diverse creative expressions.
The colour palette actually transcended trends; instead of being mere operational colours, the black, white and gold actually moved inside and explored their harmony, contrast and symbolic power, through a diverse collection of contemporary artworks.
The opening evening on November 5, given the participants and audience, marked a confluence of fine art and interior design. The event was graced by eminent guests and well-wishers, whose presence added depth and significance to the artistic dialogue, both among the artworks and between the artists and viewers. The exhibition was presented as a visual journey where each piece spoke its own story, minimal yet majestic, and modern yet timeless. In her welcome address, Jesno Jackson, who is also Founder and Chief Curator of Art4you Gallery, shared the concept behind the exhibition.

“Black, white, and gold,” she said, “are not merely colours; they are emotions, energies, and balanced expressions. Through this show, we wanted to bring together a visual conversation that spoke to both the heart of art and the soul of design.” Artists included Phil Coleman, Sunanda Docherty, Perihan Marwan, Christina Gabriela B, Jeff Canare, Ruby Narag, Anju Choksi, Janvi Choksi, Prachi Kulkarni, Karoline Denisha, Aimee George, Yaashi Khatanhar, Nataliia Venerova, Salma Barakat, Banashree Sengupta and Karthika (Kay), among others.
Each of them presented a personal interpretation of the theme, from bold minimalism to intricate layering, and from abstract reflections to symbolic figurations. Thematic diversity was one of the exhibition’s strengths. Some works evoked serenity through the delicate gradients of monochrome, while others captivated the eye with the radiance of shimmering gold, symbolising divinity, resilience, and eternal beauty. Sculptural pieces crafted from black clay and ornamented with gold leaf, mirrored the organic rhythms of nature, turning everyday materials into luxurious statements. Beyond aesthetics, Monochrome Majesty positioned itself as a show also dedicated to interior design and modern living spaces, offering art that complements architectural elegance.

The curated collection resonated with design professionals – artists and designers are more alike than unlike – as also with collectors, creating a true marriage of artistic vision and decorative sensibility. During the felicitation ceremony, the artists received a Certificate of Appreciation and a commemorative memento, acknowledging their creative excellence and contribution to the collective dialogue, in the presence of VIP Guests Lara Tabet, Eng. Azeizah AlHassani, actor Aljafali, Eng. Zahra Al Drawish, Princess Moradeun Ogunjana, May Ahmed, Nadine Ellithy, and Sanaa Lamlih.
The evening concluded with friendly exchanges, photo and selfie moments and warm applause, encapsulating the spirit of community and collaboration that Art4you Gallery’s global platform strives for. The event was supported by gift partner Luxe Décor and Gifts by Parvin, DNN, DXB24live, Newsible Asia, UAArt, Ahmed Khaled, Jihane She The Leader and CBH Chanda Bhatia, whose thoughtful contributions added to the celebration. The hospitality and presentation reflected the gallery’s commitment to creating not mere exhibitions, but experiences that connect art, people, and purpose. Monochrome Majesty was as a tribute to the continuous dialogue between contrasts, light and shadow, simplicity and luxury, and silence and expression. In every brushstroke and glint of gold, it echoed the truth that art, like life, finds beauty in balance.

“Dialogue in colours,” says an AI Overview, “can refer to several concepts, including artistic expressions like Aref El Rayess’s painting.” Aref El Rayess was a Lebanese painter and sculptor, who created the composition Dialogue of Colours, where colour, form and line engage in a dialogue that extends beyond aestheticism, encouraging both emotional and intellectual contemplation. In the work, rich blues and greens collide with fiery reds and purples, outlined in bold black — structural elements that echo both European modernists and the calligraphic fluidity of Islamic art. An account says that “the colours in this painting do not merely adorn, but speak. They converse, argue and ultimately harmonise.”
Metaphorically, the concept of dialogue also extends to using colours to represent ideas, emotions or characteristics in an expressive way, or the use of colour symbolism in general. Another dialogue is the famous ‘Socratic dialogue’, named after the Greek philosopher Socrates. It is a genre of literary prose developed in Greece at the turn of the fourth century CE. Plato’s Socratic Dialogues provide a bedrock for classical Western philosophy. For centuries they have been read, studied and discussed via the flat pages of books. But the ideal medium for them is the spoken word – as was done at the Monochrome Majesty show, hosted by Art4you Gallery.
