His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday, revealed his latest cultural project, the book “The Reason for Christianity’s Hostility to Muslims."

The work exposes the lies surrounding the wrong interpretations of the Holy Qur’an. Those interpretations are behind this hostility, Sheikh Sultan said, stressing that the work requires study of numerous references and verification of large numbers of original manuscripts to refute the falsehoods and fabricated claims.

In a telephone call on the “Direct Line” programme, which is broadcast on Sharjah Radio and Television, Sheikh Sultan said, “Lying and falsifying facts cause many calamities, and disclosure of facts requires intensive research, study and a lot of effort, which is worth it.”

He continued, “We have a historical situation that shows the impact of lies and falsification. When the Portuguese were expelled from the Hormuz by the British and Persian forces in 1622, their leader “Roy Frere de Andrada” said when he returned to his homeland that he had resisted until he had been captured and imprisoned, and that he must return. In fact, nothing of what he mentioned happened, and based on his lie they returned.”

Sheikh Sultan added, “In order for them to be able to return, “Pope Urban VIII,” the Pope of the Catholic Church in Rome, issued a statement in a leather manuscript 1.5 metres long and 1 metre wide in 1622 to all Christian institutions and churches, asking them to collect donations and impose a tax to support the army. I was able to obtain that manuscript and kept it with me, knowing that no similar manuscript was not found in the Vatican, not even with the king in Portugal.”

“When the Portuguese came to Hormuz for the first time, their intention was “Christianisation”, so the Pope wanted to repeat the matter again, and they collected money, formed the army, and returned with their forces in 1624, and they suffered a crushing defeat. All this happened because of “one” lie,” Sheikh Sultan added.

He also pointed out that all those events are mentioned in detail in "Papal Decree of Pope Urban VIII ... the Pope of the Catholic Church” book dated August 4, 1624. This book is one of the most important books, he added.

“I have now mentioned this historical incident to show that just one lie caused calamities,” he added.

He also said, ‘We strive to highlight the facts and document the correct historical events, to defeat rumours and lies with proofs, after verifying several references and studying many original manuscripts.”

“I have large numbers of manuscripts – other than those that I gifted to the Islamic Manuscript House at Al Qasimia University, the Holy Qur'an Complex and others – some of which I have examined and checked, while others I will check them soon, God willing,” he added.
