Veteran Egyptian actor Samir Sabri passes away at 85

The Egyptian media confirmed the death of veteran actor Samir Sabri on Friday at the age of 85.

Samir was suffering from health issues, as a result of which he was admitted to the hospital.

He was discharged during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays, according to local media.

According to Ashraf Zaki, the head of the Egyptian Artists Syndicate, the date of the funeral of the great artist Samir Sabri has not yet been set.

Sabri was a singer, actor, and entertainer. He was born on Dec.27, 1936, in Alexandria.

After graduating from the prestigious Victoria College, he began his career by presenting the radio program "At your request" in English.

In 1959, he made his first appearance on the big screen alongside famous radio star Amal Fahmi in Abdul Halim Hafez's "Hekayet Hobb" (Love Story).Maggie, Sabri's business manager, said  he suffered from knee problems which required him to be hospitalized for a check-up.

Maggie affirmed that Sabri health was deteriorating.
