Kardashian wishes to be declared legally single as Kanye West hopes for reconciliation
US reality TV star Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from the rapper Kanye West in February
A report by TMZ stated that Kardashian wishes to separate her marital status from issues related to custody and property, aiming to have her maiden name restored. Kim filed for divorce from Kanye after nearly seven years of marriage earlier this year in February.
According to TMZ, the 41-year-old reality star has also asked to have her maiden name restored, which would see her known as just Kim Kardashian.
The news comes as Kanye has made several public comments about his intentions to try and win Kim back, with the most recent attempt on Thursday, where the rapper dedicated his song Runaway to his ex while performing at an event. After singing the lyrics, “I need you to run back to me, baby,” the rapper specified his ex by name, saying, “More specifically, Kimberly.”
But sources said after the concert that Kim, who is reportedly romancing Pete Davidson, has "moved on" from West and has no interest in rekindling their romance.
An insider said: "(Kim) knows where Kanye's head is, but she ignores it. (She has) moved on but she knows it's difficult for Kanye to deal with. She isn't surprised that he pleads in public for her to run back to him. She is just trying to be respectful about it."
In a podcast appearance in November, the rapper went as far as to say that he “hadn’t seen any paperwork” and that he was still very much together with his “wife”. He asserted, "And I ain't never even seen the papers, we're not even divorced," adding, "That ain't no joke to me. My kids want their parents to stay together. I want ... us to be together."
A source told People magazine after Kanye’s public declaration at the concert that while Kim is aware of the rapper’s thoughts, she prefers to ignore them. "She isn't surprised that he pleads in public for her to run back to him. She is just trying to be respectful about it."
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has recently been dating comedian Pete Davidson, with the source explaining that Kim has “moved on.”
