Known for speaking her mind, actress Kangana Ranaut took to her social media to praise "rich and successful" leading Bollywood actresses for "breaking stereotypes" by marrying younger men.
Her note comes during the much-talked about wedding of Hindi film stars Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif. Kangana took to her Instagram stories to share her thoughts about “successful leading ladies of the film industry going for younger men.”
While it is very common for older men to marry younger women, it becomes a societal problem when the tables turn.
Speaking up about the issue, she wrote: "Growing up, we heard many stories of successful rich men marrying much younger women... For women to be more successful than their husband was seen as a major crisis, forget marrying a younger man after a certain age, marriage was impossible for women."
Kangana added: "Nice to see rich and successful women, leading ladies of Indian film industry breaking the sexist norms....Kudos to men and women both for redefining gender stereotype."
Katrina Kaif, who is 38, is five years elder to Vicky. The two lovebirds are set to marry in Rajasthan on Thursday (Dec.9).
Taking no names in her story, according to speculations by Indian media, the story could be a pass at Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, given their five-year age difference. However, the Queen star’s message brings more impact than damage this time around.
Besides, Katrina is not the only leading Bollywood actress who is getting married to a man younger than her. Priyanka Chopra also married singer Nick Jonas in 2018, who is 10 years younger than her.
Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, too, share an age difference of three years. In a recent interview with Times Now, Ranaut also expressed her wish of getting married soon.
Farhan’s father, the renowned lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar, confirmed the big news in a chat with the Bombay Times. “Yes, the wedding is taking place. Rest, shaadi ki jo taiyyariyan hain [the wedding preparation] that is being taken care of by the wedding planners.”
Recently, Parineeti was seen wearing a silver band on her ring finger. As per media reports, Parineeti and Raghav got engaged in a traditional roka ceremony in the presence of close family members.
After the wedding, the newlyweds were treated to a song by Shankar Mahadevan. The singer sang the title track from Farhan's directorial debut film 'Dil Chahta Hai,’ which got the guests swaying to the music.
