It turns out that Pakistan cricket team captain, Babar Azam, who remained not out last Sunday, scoring 68 in an opening stand of 152 with Mohammad Rizwan against India by 10 wickets at the T20 World Cup match, was playing "in severe distress" because of his mother being put on a ventilator following a surgery.

Popular Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has now requested her followers to pray for the outstanding batsman's mother, for he didn't let his country down despite her ill health. She tweeted, "Babar Azam’s mother is [was] on ventilator. She couldn't watch the last three matches, let's pray that Allah (SWT) blesses her with the best of health. Ameen."

Tagging Babar, she called him "our hero," adding, "my prayers are with you!" Taking to Instagram, Babar's father revealed on Saturday that his son and the cricket team captain led Pakistan to three wins at the ICC irrespective of the "test" at home.

"It's time for my nation to know this truth. Congratulations to all of you on the victory in all the three games. There was a big test at our house as well. On the day Pakistan played against India, Babar's mother was put on a ventilator," Azam Siddiqui wrote on Instagram.

"Babar played all three matches in severe distress. I didn't want to come here and say this. But I must. I want to so Babar does not fall weak. It is by the grace of God that she is fine now," he added, alongside a family photograph.

Siddiqui then concluded, "The purpose of sharing is to also request everyone to think before criticising your national heroes without any reason. There is no victory without a test. Long live Pakistan."

On the same day, Babar also shared a photo with his fellow team members from Dubai. "A day off with the family," he tweeted alongside.
