Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is a forceful campaigner who is in a league of his own. Nearly a decade ago, he launched a TV serial that tackled the evils of dowry in India. He also dealt with autism which had a telling impact on viewers. Now he is trying to endear the Bollywood movie industry with Kashmiris once again, helping it regain its lost glory by filming in Jammu and Kashmir’s picture-perfect locations.

In this context, he met Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and discussed with him how to ramp up film shooting in the state.

He shared a picture on Twitter where the Governor is shown interacting with Aamir and his (now former) wife Kiran Rao at his official residence in Srinagar.

Middle-aged baby-boomers yearn for the days of yore when there were such landmark films as Kashmir ki Kali, Jab Jab Phool Khile and Aarzoo. The younger lot cherish such films as Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Rockstar shot in the picture-postcard locales of the state.

The actor also visited Amar Singh College. The trip is most likely for a recce for his upcoming movie Lal Singh Chadha, according a report by a well-known Indian TV news channel.

Aamir announced the end of his 15-year-old marriage, amicably earlier in July.

The couple who have a son together, Azad, will be co-parenting instead of living like a couple, said the statement.
