Young, talented and upcoming Malayalam film director Jayaram Kailas and a promising young actor Gokul Suresh have teamed up for an upcoming commercial  Malayalam film, “Ambalamukkile Visheshangal.”

Both of them are pinning high hopes on the film, because one film-old Jayaram is trying to carve a niche for himself in the film industry, while Gokul is searching for recognition on a turf where his father Suresh Gopi is a superstar. Starting his career as a cameraman, Jayaram has made his film debut in 2015, with a film “Akkaldhamyile,” which had received much appreciation and won many awards. This was enough for a debutante to dream big and look forward. In a telephonic conversation with Gulf Today, Jayaram said: “This is a typical commercial comedy movie and I hope this film will manage to entertain the audience. It is comedy laced with a very strong message. It also deals with myriad emotions.”

Talking about his experience of his debut film, he said, “My debut film was a female-centric, serious and thought-provoking film, which managed to garner lots of appreciation.” Praising his lead actor Suresh, he said: “He is an extremely talented actor, and he is the son of a superstar, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha from Kerala.” The recently released poster of the film has managed to get special attention from cine-goers and has generated a buzz already. The film, which was shot in 45 days, was clapped in Palghat, Alappuzha, Thiruvananthpuram and Ernakulam disticts of Kerala.” Jayaram is also excited about the fact that the famous Guruvayoor temple of Kerala has once again turned into a venue for his movie. The super-hit film ‘Nandanam’ was last shot there in 2002.

Filmmaker Jayaram has a UAE connection also. He has spent a substantial number of years in Ras Al Khaimah. He lived in the UAE from 2006 to 2014, before taking a plunge into the film industry, to pursue his dream of becoming a filmmaker. He had his own company in RAK Free Zone, where he worked for big and reputed brands.

‘Ambalamukkile Visheshangal’ is set in a rural backdrop and revolves around a bunch of unemployed villagers led by Gokul Suresh. The music is by Arul Dev and Ranjin Raj and the latter has also handled the background score for the project.

The flick is bankrolled by Sarathchandran Nair under the banner of Chand Creations. The story and screenplay is done by Umesh Krishnan and the project is helmed by Jayaram. Abdul Rahim has been roped in as the cinematographer, while Renjan Abraham is on board as editor. The film also stars Lal, Major Ravi, Ganapathy, Shaeen Siddique, Dharmajan, Ishni, Mareena, Michael, Bijukuttan , Murali Chand, Aneesh G Menon, Nobi, Ullas Panthalam, Sunil Sugatha, Azes, Manoj Ginnus, Kootikal Jayachandran, Vinod Kedamangalam, Asvini, Harikrishnan, Vanitha Krishnachandran, and others. The film is shot entirely in 8K — which is a novelty.

While making a comparison with his previous work, Jayaram said: “If my 2015 maiden directorial venture ‘Akkaldhamayiole Pennu,’ which has won many awards, was a tear-jerker, then ‘Ambalamukkile Visheshangal’ is an out-and-out commercial comedy.”

More than a comic film, ‘Ambalamukkile Visheshangal’ also explores the finer nuances of friendship among a bunch of innocent villagers, he added. The film beautifully captures the emotions of helplessness and frustrated youth.

Meanwhile, well-known actor, director Major Ravi plays an important role as Gokul’s father, a poor constable. The movie also portrays the strong father-son relationship. A prominent actor from the Malayalam film industry appears in a cameo. The film has also succeeded in bringing together many of Malayalam movies’ well-known comic actors on a single platform.

The songs are sung by Nikhil Mathew, Shweta Mohan, Sannidhananthan, Ranjin Raj and director Jayaram Kailas. The song sequences are visual treats, highlighting the enchanting beauty of the pastoral hinterland.  Ranjin Raj has also succeeded in incorporating folklore music in the film. The film is produced by J Sarath Chandran Nair, while Murali Chand is co-producer and Bharath Chand is executive producer.
