The Hollywood actress Judy Turner Smith's lost her jewels from her room during Cannes international film festival, according to Nice police.

Smith wore eye-catching Gucci gold and diamond jewellery at the red carpet premiere of her latest film 'After Yang.'

"The next morning while she was having breakfast with her daughter, her suite at the Marriott hotel in the Riviera resort was broken into," said police.

Smith, who has British nationality, is known for her role in American series "True Blood," and she also acted in the movie 'Queen and Slim.'

'Queen and Slim' was directed by the American director Melina Matsoukas in 2019.

Smith comes from a Jamaican family, she grew up in Britain and then moved to the United States.

She was invited to the festival to participate in discussions about the role of women and minorities in the cinema.
