Indian singer Rahul Vaidya is a versatile entertainer.  From being a Bollywood playback singer to TV show host to Big Boss 14 finalist, he has worn many hats — doing justice to all the roles. Vaidya, who shot to fame with his participation at Indian Idol Season 1, had an instant connect with the audience. His melodious voice and his adorable looks made him a very popular singer at a very young age. Since then, he has gone on to do many albums, Bollywood songs and has hosted many TV shows. But has remained humble even as he entertained the audience and won accolades and applause.

In a telephonic conversation with Gulf Today, talking about his celebrated journey he said that “the journey has been quite a long one. I participated in Indian Idol show 15 years ago, and took part in Big Boss this year. It has indeed been a long journey. But they had their own charms. Both have given me a lot.” Vaidya made legions of fans at the Big Boss Season 14 for being very honest in his approach. He carried his aura sincerely throughout the show.

Talking about this he said: “See I am what you saw me in the show. I am the same person always.”  He added that in a show like Big Boss, one can’t fake oneself. “It is such a long show,” he said. “You can’t pretend to be somebody for four months.” On his participation at the Big Boss, he said:  “My main work is live performances; but because of COVID-19, there was not much work happening and Big Boss gets offered to me every year. Therefore, I thought this is the best time to do it. That’s how I could do that.” When asked what was the most challenging for him during the show, he said: “Staying away from my family was most difficult part for me.”

He also grabbed lots of media attention after proposing to his girl friend actress and model Disha Pramar on the show.  Sharing this experience, he said: “I have known her for two years. So, when I went to the house, I started missing my family and Disha. That’s when I thought of proposing to her on national television and make it official.”

Though he has shown his versatility at all entertainment platforms, when asked is there any thing left for him to do, he humbly replied: “I am very happy singing and doing live performances. But I have been getting acting offers everyday, literally everyday. Let’s see if I get something good — then I will grab that.”

Despite seeing success very early, he has managed to keep his innocence and honesty intact and never let glamour change him at all.  When asked what keeps him so grounded, he said: “I belong to a lower middle class family and we have a very humble upbringing.  My parents and what they taught me have kept me rooted. That’s why success does not get to my head.” Talking about his family, he noted: “We are from Nagpur, Maharashtra. My father is retired now and my mother is a house maker. We all live together. Now my mother can’t wait to see me married.”

A frequent visitor to Dubai, he said London and Dubai are his favourite cities.

Talking about Dubai, he said: “I love Dubai. I go to Dubai very often. It is my favourite place. I have lots of friends and their families there. I love eating and shopping there.”

Quite active on social media platforms, Vaidya is very excited about his forthcoming album, which will be out in two weeks’ time. Speaking about that he said: “In two weeks time, my first song will be out. And this album has most beautiful songs in it. It features my girl friend Disha also. It is the first song we are doing together after becoming a couple,” he concluded.
