Joss Whedon allegedly threatened to harm Gal Gadot’s career on the set of Justice League.

“The Hollywood Reporter” shared the allegation on Tuesday, as part of a broader report on issues actor Ray Fisher says he experienced and witnessed on the set of the 2017 superhero film Justice League.

Whedon’s comments allegedly occurred after Whedon took over from Zack Snyder in post-production, after Snyder had to leave the project due to personal reasons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, citing Fisher and other, unnamed sources, Whedon was “dismissive” of some actors – Fisher, Gadot, and Jason Momoa – when they questioned some of the lines in the film.

The “biggest clash”, the outlet writes, “came when Whedon pushed Gadot to record lines she didn't like, threatened to harm Gadot's career and disparaged “Wonder Woman” director Patty Jenkins”.

After one clash, Whedon was reportedly “bragging that he's had it out with Gal”, a witness told the publication, adding: “He told her he's the writer and she's going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie.”

Gadot told “The Hollywood Reporter” in a statement: “I had my issues with [Whedon] and Warner Bros handled it in a timely manner.” Whedon declined to comment for The Hollywood Reporter’s piece.

A representative for Whedon had no additional statement when contacted by The Independent. The Independent has contacted Gadot’s representative for further comment.

This isn’t the first time Fisher has spoken out against Whedon. In July 2020, alleged in a tweet that Whedon’s “on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable”. Momoa said in September of that year that “serious stuff went down” on the Justice League set.

Gadot said in December that she had been interviewed as part of a “very thorough investigation” by WarnerMedia into what allegedly happened during filming. WarnerMedia said at the time that “remedial action has been taken” but did not disclose details.

In February this year, Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Charisma Carpenter also came forward, alleging that Whedon had created “hostile and toxic work environments”.
