SEDD, Federal Tax Authority to boost exchange of information

Sharjah Economic Development Department “SEDD” and Federal Tax Authority “FTA” signed a memorandum of association aimed at enhancing information exchange and e-linking between the two entities, which contributes to developing the government work system, raising the efficiency of data exchange, supporting tax compliance, and achieving integration between government entities in line with UAE’s directions towards digital transformation and smart governance.

The agreement falls within the efforts to enhance institutional cooperation and develop mechanisms for exchanging data related to economic and commercial activities, which supports the accuracy of information and speed of access to it, and enhances the efficiency of services provided to customers and the business sector in Sharjah.

Under the agreement, the two parties will work to develop e-linking and data exchange channels in accordance with the highest standards of cybersecurity and information protection, ensuring the provision of accurate and up-to-date data that supports decision-making and contributes to enhancing the business and investment environment.

To carry on, the two sides affirmed that the agreement represents an important step towards enhancing government integration and employing modern digital solutions, which will positively impact the level of services provided to customers and consolidate UAE’s position as a global model in digital transformation and government innovation.

Additionally, the agreement confirms the commitment of both parties to continue developing mechanisms for mutual cooperation and exchanging experiences and knowledge in a way that supports the achievement of the strategic goals of both parties, enhances the efficiency of government work and contributes to achieving UAE’s vision of a competitive and innovative knowledge-based economy.

Commenting on this, HE Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, SEDD Chairman and Member of Sharjah Executive Council, said that the MOU embodies SEDD’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with various federal entities. HE added that this collaboration supports the integration of government roles and enhances the efficiency of services provided to the business sector. Furthermore, Al Mahmoud stated that the electronic linkage and information exchange with the Federal Tax Authority represent a significant step towards enhancing the business environment in the emirate and streamlining procedures for investors and entrepreneurs, aligning with the goals of sustainable economic development and the comprehensive digital transformation in UAE.

Moreover, HE SEDD Chairman pointed out that integration between government agencies and employing modern technologies in data exchange contribute to raising the quality of government services, enhancing transparency, and supporting the competitiveness of the national economy, which reflects positively on the business community and enhances the attractiveness of Sharjah as a leading investment destination.

From his side, HE Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Mulla, Director General of the Federal Tax Authority “FTA”, affirmed that the data exchanged under the MOU will contribute to enriching the Authority’s data system and enhancing its capabilities to rely on AI-assisted models used in supporting registration decisions and recommendations, and tax compliance, thereby raising the level of accuracy of outputs and efficiency of operations. This data will also support the Authority’s efforts to develop AI-assisted models, “Agentic AI”, by providing it with additional qualitative data that enhances its analytical and predictive capabilities, and contributes to providing proactive digital services and improving customer experience.

Likely, HE FTA Director General stated, “The MOU between FTA and SEDD supports the Authority’s efforts to keep pace with the system of transforming government sectors, services and operations to apply the “Agent AI” models, which aim to bring about a qualitative transformation in the efficiency of government work, the quality of services and the speed of completing transactions. The agreement also contributes to enhancing our ambitious vision to expand digital transformation in the tax sector, keeping pace with the “Zero Bureaucracy” program to simplify and reduce procedures, maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and encourage voluntary tax compliance based on the latest digital technologies.”
