In conversation with Selva Kumar Rajulu, Managing Director at Nolte FZE, on how a legacy of craftsmanship continues to guide innovation in the UAEFor decades, Nolte has built its identity on precision, consistency, and a commitment to long-lasting quality. After more than fifteen years in the UAE, this heritage has evolved into a regionally informed approach that supports fast-growing communities and major developments. Gulf Today spoke with Selva Kumar Rajulu to explore how this legacy continues to influence modern kitchen design and large-scale project delivery.
1. Nolte Küchen has been a German kitchen manufacturer for nearly seven decades. How has this heritage influenced the expertise you bring to the UAE market?
Our seven-decade German heritage gives us a strong foundation in engineering discipline, quality control and structured planning. These values guide every decision we make in the UAE. Over the years, Nolte has developed highly efficient production systems and consistent quality standards, which customers here appreciate because they want reliability and transparency.
At the same time, Nolte FZE has been established in the UAE for more than fifteen years. This experience in the region has helped us build a wide product portfolio that reflects the diverse preferences of the UAE’s multicultural market. Ultimately, this heritage enables us to offer both innovation and stability, supported by processes that have been refined over decades.
2. The company has grown across different continents and cultures. What aspects of its identity have remained constant throughout this global expansion?
Across every market, three things have always remained constant for Nolte: quality, consistency, and customer focus. No matter where we operate, our products are manufactured in Germany under the same standards, using the same materials, processes, and certifications. This means a kitchen installed in Dubai is identical in quality to one delivered in Europe.
What has also remained consistent is our ability to listen and adapt. As we expanded across continents, we built a multinational and multicultural team that reflects the diversity of the markets we serve. This diversity has strengthened our identity as it allows us to apply the same core principles with a deeper understanding of local expectations.
3. You have been involved in developments such as Tilal Al Ghaf and Harmony Villas. From your perspective, what makes UAE residential projects distinct from those in other markets?
UAE projects move at a very fast pace, and this speed requires partners who can plan, coordinate, and execute with precision. Developers here expect reliability and tailored support. What also makes the UAE unique is the diversity of end-users—buyers come from all over the world, bringing different design expectations, whether minimalist European, warm Middle Eastern, or contemporary Asian. This requires solutions that are both flexible and durable. Additionally, most homes in the UAE act as investment properties, so developers prioritise long-term value and efficient installation.
4. With the UAE investing heavily in smart city development and digital innovation, how is the company’s design philosophy evolving to align with this new era of tech-enabled living?
The UAE’s move toward smart districts and connected living encourages us to design kitchens that integrate seamlessly into modern digital homes. Our approach focuses on flexibility, future-proof planning, and ergonomics. Nolte’s Matrix systems—Matrix 750, MatrixZero, MatrixOne—allow homeowners to optimise storage and functionality while accommodating the growing use of smart appliances and integrated lighting. We also see increasing demand for sustainable, certified materials as developers move towards LEED and green-building standards. Being the only kitchen brand with both FSC and PEFC certifications gives us an edge, especially in large-scale projects aligned with the UAE’s sustainability goals.
5. What stands out as the biggest opportunity in the UAE market, and can you share a memorable project where you were able to highlight this?
For us, the biggest opportunity lies in the UAE’s shift toward premium and branded developments, where quality and reliability are becoming key decision factors. Developers want partners who can deliver thousands of units on time without compromising standards. Our regional competence centre in Dubai oversees 30 countries and has delivered more than 80,000 project kitchens and 35,000 retail kitchens in recent years, which gives us the scale and experience to support this growing demand.
A memorable example is our partnership with MERED, where we will design and install 310 premium kitchens for ICONIC Residences, an ultra luxury residential tower near Palm Jumeirah. As more developers prioritise long-term durability and consistency, our German manufacturing and FSC and PEFC certified materials position us strongly for the next wave of UAE real estate growth.
6. Looking ahead, what can we expect to see next from Nolte in the UAE?
Over the next few years, our focus is on expanding Nolte’s presence across all Emirates with dedicated showrooms and stronger direct operations. We plan to deepen our partnerships with major developers and continue growing in the premium residential segment. With our flagship showroom opening on Sheikh Zayed Road, Nolte will become the only kitchen brand in the region with a fully brand-owned showroom, giving customers a direct and completely Nolte-managed experience without intermediaries.
We are also targeting a minimum 25% share of the European kitchen market, supported by a strong pipeline in which developers account for roughly 70% of our business, and retail contributes the remaining 30%. Our long-term goal is to become the number one European kitchen brand in the UAE, recognised for reliability and service quality.
