On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has participated at the BRICS Leaders Virtual Summit, convened by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.
Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan delivered the UAE’s address, conveying the greetings of the UAE President to the participating countries as well as sincere wishes for the summit’s success.
Sheikh Khaled highlighted that the United Arab Emirates greatly appreciates Brazil’s efforts in steering the BRICS group since the beginning of its leadership this year, and highly values the significant outcomes achieved during the 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro on 6-7 July 2025.
He underscored that BRICS serves as a vital framework for collective international action, driving development for its member states and people, while advancing shared global prosperity, in alignment with the UAE’s commitment to building economic and trade partnerships that further enhance sustainable development and deliver growth and prosperity for all nations.
The BRICS Leaders Virtual Summit explored ways to enhance cooperation and facilitate foreign trade among member states and discussed advancing economic integration through joint projects in key sectors, including infrastructure, energy and digital transformation, while promoting sustainable growth in developing countries. The summit further underscored the importance of strengthening political dialogue on global economic issues and addressing challenges facing the international trading system.
The summit was attended by Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China; Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation; Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt; Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa; Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran; Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia; Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India; and Dr Gedion Timothewos, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
In July, Sheikh Khaled visited Brazil leading the UAE delegation that attended the 17th BRICS Summit, which took place in Rio de Janeiro, on behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Khaled expressed gratitude and appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended by Brazil to the UAE delegation, and conveyed best wishes for the continued progress, development and prosperity of the Federative Republic of Brazil and its people.
Sheikh Khaled was accompanied by a delegation including Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr.Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman of the Office of the Crown Prince; Maryam Eid AlMheiri, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Media Office and Advisor of Strategic Relations at the Crown Prince Court; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic and Trade Affairs; and Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi, Ambassador of the UAE to Brazil.
Separately, the United Arab Emirates, represented by Dr Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, has participated in the BRICS Business Forum on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
During the Forum, Al Zeyoudi highlighted the UAE’s strong relationships with BRICS nations and the community’s role in driving innovation, accelerating trade and creating opportunities for cross-border investment. Al Zeyoudi also promoted closer collaboration in key sectors, including logistics, agriculture, renewable energy, technology and healthcare. The BRICS Business Forum gathered leaders and business representatives from the community’s 10 member nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, and the UAE – to exchange views and ideas on how their public and private sectors can work together to navigate the world’s current economic and geopolitical climate. The UAE’s participation reflects its belief in constructive collaboration and its commitment to pursuing mutually beneficial global partnership. The Forum resulted in the endorsement of several initiatives aimed at deepening economic cooperation as well as new private sector partnerships that will enhance trade and investment flows.
Al Zeyoudi said the Forum provided an important opportunity to engage with a group of like-minded nations undergoing significant economic transformations: “The BRICS community provides a compelling model for growth in the current economic climate.
