Sharjah and Turkiye to expand trade, investment cooperation

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) held talks with the Turkish Consulate General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates on the topic of expanding cooperation and advancing trade and investment ties between the Sharjah and Turkiye business communities, encouraging companies operating in diverse sectors to exchange more information regarding investment opportunities. These efforts are built on the robust economic relations shared by the UAE and the Republic of Turkiye.

The discussions took place as Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted a high-level delegation led by Onur Şaylan, Consul General of the Republic of Turkiye in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, at the Sharjah Chamber.

The meeting was attended by Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, Assistant Director-General of the Communication and Business Sector at the Sharjah Chamber, Jamal Saeed Buzangal, Director of the Media Department at the Chamber, Ersoy Erbay, the Consul’s Commercial Attaché, and a number of officials from both sides.

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais said the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry strives to enrich cooperation and trade exchange with the Turkish business community, share a range of investment opportunities across different sectors, and highlight the opportunities and benefits Sharjah offers to investors within its rich investment environment.

The strong commercial ties between the UAE and Turkiye pave the way for the two countries’ business communities to explore promising future avenues on both sides.

Al Owais noted that the two nations’ strategic partnership witnessed extensive development in the middle of 2023 with the signing of memorandums of understanding and agreements valued at $50.7 billion.

At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation toured the Chamber’s permanent exhibition of local industries, perusing the products of over 180 establishments operating in Sharjah, showcased across 191 stands. They praised the products, commenting that the exhibition offers an excellent venue for promoting local industries, creating opportunities for cooperation between local companies and representatives of visiting business delegations.

Earlier the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sfax, Tunisia, held a meeting to discuss advancing mutual cooperation and joint efforts in order to further develop the relations between the two countries’ business communities.

The meeting touched on exchanging commercial delegations, holding joint events and forums, and improving coordination to encourage businessmen and companies across all sectors to participate in exhibitions in both Sharjah and Tunisia.

Held at the SCCI headquarters, the meeting brought together Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and Taoufik Hachicha, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions & Conferences, which operates under the banner of the League of Arab States’ Council of Arab Economic Unity.

During the discussions, the two sides explored opportunities for cooperation between the Sharjah and Tunisia business communities and means of leveraging the strong UAE-Tunisia ties to uncover lucrative prospects across the two nations’ prominent economic sectors. They also touched on boosting the two friendly countries’ trade exchange and exports.

The Sharjah Chamber received an invitation from the Tunisian side to participate in the 14th Mediterranean Agriculture and Agribusiness Exhibition at the Sfax International Fair. The event, which is slated to take place in mid-May in Sfax, is a leading exhibition in the agricultural and food industries.

The Tunisian side commended the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its unwavering efforts to consolidate Sharjah-Tunisia business relations, lauding the role it plays in enhancing coordination to increase the exchange of expertise and mutual visits, developing trade relations. The Sharjah Chamber was also recognised for its work facilitating business operations between the two sides and encouraging them to share promising investment opportunities in the fields of industry, food, building, construction, and agriculture.

Meanwhile during a media briefing, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department (SRERD) announced the details of the new edition of the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition - “ACRES 2024”, being held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, between January 17th and 20th at Expo Centre, Sharjah.
