UAE, Tunisia business communities to further advance mutual co-operation

The meeting touched on exchanging commercial delegations, holding joint events and forums, and improving coordination to encourage businessmen and companies across all sectors to participate in exhibitions in both Sharjah and Tunisia.
Held at the SCCI headquarters, the meeting brought together Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, and Taoufik Hachicha, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Sfax Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions & Conferences, which operates under the banner of the League of Arab States’ Council of Arab Economic Unity.
Mohammed Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended the meeting.
During the discussions, the two sides explored opportunities for cooperation between the Sharjah and Tunisia business communities and means of leveraging the strong UAE-Tunisia ties to uncover lucrative prospects across the two nations’ prominent economic sectors. They also touched on boosting the two friendly countries’ trade exchange and exports.
The Sharjah Chamber received an invitation from the Tunisian side to participate in the 14th Mediterranean Agriculture and Agribusiness Exhibition at the Sfax International Fair. The event, which is slated to take place in mid-May in Sfax, is a leading exhibition in the agricultural and food industries.
The Tunisian side commended the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry for its unwavering efforts to consolidate Sharjah-Tunisia business relations, lauding the role it plays in enhancing coordination to increase the exchange of expertise and mutual visits, developing trade relations. The Sharjah Chamber was also recognised for its work facilitating business operations between the two sides and encouraging them to share promising investment opportunities in the fields of industry, food, building, construction, and agriculture.
Meanwhile during a media briefing, the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Sharjah Real Estate Registration Department (SRERD) announced the details of the new edition of the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition - “ACRES 2024”, being held under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, between 17th and 20th January, at Expo Centre, Sharjah.
“ACRES” represents a distinguished platform for companies and developers in the real estate sector to promote new projects, with a significant opportunity to meet different segments of people and investors interested in exploring investment opportunities. In addition, it reflects the sharp real estate growth due to the economic initiatives and incentives provided by the UAE government targeting residents wishing to reside, work, and invest in the country as a preferred safe and stable global destination.
During this briefing, the organising committee announced the participation of more than 372 new real estate projects from inside and outside the country, including real estate projects from the UAE, the Sultanate of Oman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Georgia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and Turkey. Moreover, the exhibition exclusively includes offers presented by major participating real estate developers.
In addition, the exhibition space has increased by 60 percent compared to last year to accommodate the increased demand from participating companies. This was due to the significant success achieved in the previous edition regarding exclusive investment deals and the high value of sales and transactions. The exhibition is expected to witness unparalleled visitor turnout in its new edition compared to the numbers seen during its previous editions.
Earlier during a meeting convened by Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), has shed light on the Chamber’s proven commitment to supporting owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and developing the UAE’s entrepreneurial ecosystem as a driver of the nation’s future economy.
The Chamber has displayed its dedication to this aim through its efforts to launch groundbreaking initiatives and programmes that advance the entrepreneurial sector. It has also put forward marketing platforms that encourage young thinkers and entrepreneurs to develop their businesses, equipping them with the needed training and support to further contribute to the growth, flexibility, and sustainability of the UAE economy.
The meeting welcomed entrepreneurs from two platforms spearheaded by the SCCI, namely, the Emirates Jewellers Pavilion and Emiratis for Ouds and Perfumes, which were launched at the Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show and the Emirates Perfumes and Oud Exhibition, respectively. The platforms aimed to support entrepreneurs, young Emirati talents, and SME owners working in the perfume, gold, and jewellery design sectors.
