Stem cell revolution begins in Dubai to boost medical tourism

The global medical tourism industry is growing rapidly as worldwide spending in the sector was recorded around $4.7 billion in the 2023 and estimated to touch $8 billion mark next year, according to Bloomberg recent data.

To strengthen Dubai's position as a hub of medical tourism and increase the contribution of wellness tourism to its economy, Medical Wellness Tourism hosted a medical tourism exhibition in Dubai, with the participation of the largest clinics and the most famous doctors from several countries around the world.

This exhibition attracted doctors from all over the world, such as Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, and Turkey, in addition to the most important hospitals and clinics in Dubai.

The exhibition aims to present distinct solutions for stem cell treatment, such as treating disc herniation without surgery or the so-called “disc catheterization” and everything related to anti-aging, and creating an integrated treatment system that allows the patient to receive treatment whether in Dubai or anywhere in the world, with the possibility of providing all logistical services from Travel and accommodation reservations and the provision of an interpreter.

The exhibition also aims to confirm that Dubai is the capital of the Middle East in the field of medical tourism.

In this context, Izzat Rustom, CEO of the organizing company, said about the reason for holding this exhibition in Dubai: “Dubai is a global destination for all fields, including a medical destination. Therefore, we have created a tourist treatment programme in agreement.”

In response to a question about how this project serves Dubai as a destination for medical tourism, Rustom confirmed that Dubai is a distinguished tourist destination in all dimensions, but in order to build this tourism, doctors must be attracted from outside the Emirates to transfer expertise to the country, and this is done by their presence on average a week per month in Dubai to treat patients within.
