UAE emerges as a cybersecurity benchmark in Middle East region

The UAE ranks as the safest cybersecurity country in the region as the country has emerged as a cybersecurity benchmark in the region, boasting the lowest infection and blocked URL rates.

The cybersecurity landscape within the Middle East, Turkey, and Africa (META) region has seen varied yet progressive growth when compared to last year. The Middle East has witnessed a robust increase in cybersecurity awareness and investment, driven largely by its rapid digital transformation endeavors. This region has shown a keen interest in advanced cybersecurity solutions.

The Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Seminar, recently hosted by the UAE Chapter of ICAP Members in Dubai achieved resounding success. The event brought together industry leaders, experts, and professionals to explore the vital intersections of data protection, digital security, and business resilience.

The seminar was organised by the Managing Committee of the UAE Chapter of ICAP Members, a wing of the Pakistan Association Dubai & UAE Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). Under the leadership of Chairman Yasir Gadit and Vice President Mustajab, the committee included Joint Secretary Naffar Hussain, General Secretary Asad Siddiqui, and Head of Financial Affairs Inayatullah Begawala, along with committee members Arun Bulani, Kashif Aujla, and Malik Mudasser.

Yasir Gadit, Chairman of the UAE Chapter of ICAP Members, and Mustajab, Vice Chairman, introduced the committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and committee members, and extended an invitation to mark their calendars for the upcoming ICAP event, the GCC Finance Summit, scheduled for November 28th.

In a gesture of appreciation, the UAE Chapter of ICAP Members acknowledged the dedicated efforts of ICAP Senior Members  Nafees,  Asif Zaman, and Asif Kaleem, honoring them with shields as tokens of recognition for their invaluable contributions to the organization.

Yasir Gadit, Chairman UAE Chapter of ICAP Members shared his personal thoughts on the event, saying, “The seminar underscored the vital importance of data privacy and cybersecurity in today’s business environment. We are living in an era where safeguarding data is not just a compliance requirement but a strategic imperative.

Mustajab Ahmed, Vice Chairman added, “This event is a testament to the commitment of ICAP to providing our members with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate these challenges successfully.

Rabia Shaukat, FCA, ACCA, Founder & Managing Director , ADSA Hospitality Finance Consultants told Gulf Today on the sidelines of the event that

investment and education in data security and cybersecurity are paramount in today’s digital age.

“With the ever-increasing volume of sensitive information stored online, the need for robust protection is non-negotiable.” Rabia added.

“Cyberattacks threaten not only individuals but also businesses, governments, and critical infrastructure. Investing in cutting-edge technologies, personnel training, and research is essential to stay ahead of cyber threats.” Rabia concluded.

Saeed Hasan Khan, Director of Bizilance Legal Consultants Ltd, provided valuable insights into navigating the Personal Data Privacy Legal Framework.

Saifullah Khan, also Director from Bizilance Legal Consultants Ltd, shed light on global enforcement trends, offering insights and a forward-looking perspective.

Mark Child, CEO of Quantum Evolve, delivered a thought-provoking session on fortifying data and digital assets, emphasizing the importance of building resilient cybersecurity in a digital world.

Ms. Edvania Tarkiainen, Founder and CEO of Thera Compliance, addressed the challenges and opportunities in data privacy compliance.

Ms. Iris Chelarescu, a Wellness Coach, discussed the harmonization of wellness and business for a transformative corporate experience.

The event also featured the participation of Asad Siddiqui, Finance Director at Moment Holdings Ltd, and  Naffar Hussain, Managing Partner at ANK Global, who served as an accomplished Masters of Ceremony, ensuring a seamless flow of discussions throughout the evening.
