Due to strong demand among residents of the United Arab Emirates and other GCC countries, seats for the seminar on the United States golden visa this Sunday April 9 are filling up fast. GCC expats seeking access to America are increasingly exploring the U.S. golden visa as an immigration option to the U.S.

The event by the team of U.S. licensed lawyers and professionals at The American Legal Center, the leading experts on the U.S. golden visa in the Middle East, is being held in the Address Sky View in Downtown Dubai at 3pm.

What Is the U.S. Golden Visa?

The EB-5 program, the U.S. golden visa equivalent, allows families to obtain the U.S. Green Card for themselves and their dependent family members, including spouse and children under the age of 21 with a redeemable investment of $800,000. For the past 30 years, the EB-5 program has been a prominent immigration route to the U.S. amongst residents in the region given its ease and relatively low requirements.

The main requirement of the EB-5 program is that an investment of $800,000 be made with lawful funds into a government pre-approved real estate project in the United States. The investment must create a minimum of 10 jobs for U.S. persons. The capital investment of $800,000 is returned to the investor after approximately five years.

Expedited Processing for GCC Residents

The U.S. government modernized the EB-5 program through passage of new legislation called the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act (RIA) in March 2022. The RIA introduced various positive reforms to the EB-5 program, such as a new category of reserved U.S. golden visas called visa set asides.

The new EB-5 legislation expanded the EB-5 program through the launch of three new reserved visa categories. According to the RIA, of the 10,000 U.S. golden visas available for the EB-5 program in any given fiscal year, 10% are reserved for applicants who invest in high unemployment areas, 20% are reserved for applicants who invest in rural areas, and 2% are reserved for applicants who invest in infrastructure projects.

The new reserved visa categories are especially relevant to nationalities that had previously been subject to backlogs, such as Indian and Chinese nationals. By virtue of filing their EB-5 applications in one of these new categories, applicants no longer face longer wait times.

With over a decade of expertise in the EB-5 industry, Shai Zamanian, Legal Director of The American Legal Center, is urging GCC residents to collect their documents to benefit from this short window of opportunity. “Our goal is to help as many families as possible in starting their migration journey to the United States through the new category of reserved visas before these categories also become backlogged,” says Shai Zamanian. “We are urging our clients to act swiftly in gathering their documents to stay ahead of the curve.”
