Indian state showcases business attractiveness across sectors at Expo

Top officials during the inauguration of the Andhra Pradesh Week at India Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai.

The state of Andhra Pradesh is ready to showcase its development and immense business opportunities to the global investors during its participation at India Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai.

The state’s floor at the India pavilion was inaugurated on Friday by Mekapati Goutham Reddy, Minister of Commerce and Information Technology, Government of Andhra Pradesh along with Dr Thani Bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr Ahmed Albanna, UAE Ambassador to India and Sunjay Sudhir, India Ambassador to the UAE.

Zulfi Ravdjee, Advisor to Government of Andhra Pradesh & Special Representative to Government for Middle East & Far East Countries and Shri JVN Subramanyam, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) & CEO Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) along with senior government officials from the state were also present at the inaugural ceremony.

Inaugurating the Andhra Pradesh floor, Shri Mekapati Goutham Reddy said, “Under the able leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, India has achieved remarkable progress across economic and social development metrics and continues to develop as a powerhouse in the world economy. The state of Andhra Pradesh has strong governance, strategic locational advantages, robust infrastructure, thriving industrial & business ecosystem, skilled manpower and immense potential for growth across key sectors. I am confident that the state floor at India Pavilion will project Andhra Pradesh in a new perspective, open new opportunities for business and establish new relationships with industry & governments.”

“Andhra Pradesh is blessed with abundant natural resources, mineral wealth, and presents a low-risk and easy environment for businesses to grow. We are poised to exchange strengths and are looking forward to long term business relationships with global investors,” he added.

JVN Subramanyam, said, “It is a great privilege for Andhra Pradesh to participate in Expo 2020 Dubai. Andhra Pradesh is one of the nine industrialized states in India, which is also helping the country to realise its $5 trillion economy mission. The state’s floor at India Pavilion depicts our key pillars of governance and development in the state, which will support us to partner with global investors.”

The state will be making a strong pitch to the global investors during the week by showcasing its business capabilities along with its tradition and culture through a series of events exhibiting opportunities across key focus sectors including Automobile, Food Processing, Textiles, Healthcare, Information Technology and Capital Goods among other to forge new partnerships.

Along with showcasing the business attractiveness, the state will also exhibit its rich cultural heritage to the global audience through India Pavilion. The Andhra Pradesh week will conclude on 17th February 2022.

Kerala week concluded: The state of Kerala concluded its participation at the India Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai recently on a successful note, as it received significant investment commitments from global investors across various key sectors.

The state floor was inaugurated on 4th February by Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala and Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, and Commissioner General of Expo 2020.

The delegation led by the Chief Minister met His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who highlighted the growing investments the two countries are making in each other’s economies especially in renewable energy, logistics services, air transport and food security.  

The delegation also met Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Nasser Bin Thani Al Hamli, UAE Minister of Human Resources, Labour, and Emiratisation and Sheikh Abdullah Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Chairman of UAE Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed the partnership and business interest between Kerala and the UAE.

The delegation invited global investors and Non-Resident Keralites (NRK’s) to script a new story of growth and development in the state during meetings with India Business and Promotional Council (IBPC) members and CEOs of international companies including IFFCO Group, Sharaf Group & Tristar Group among others.

Kerala has shown consistent success in its social development and sustainability indicators as well as the Human Development Index, indicating a high focus on human and industrial growth.

Several diaspora connect events were also held during the week, which were attended by senior state government officials and the NRK business community. Kerala’s participation was crucial at the Expo 2020 given the massive 1.2 million Malayali population in the UAE.
