Dewa commissions 1,310 11kV power distribution stations in 2021

Dewa advanced its digital infrastructure and technologies.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) commissioned 1,310 new 11 kV power distribution stations across Dubai from Jan.1 until Dec.31, 2021.

This is part of its efforts to provide a state-of-the-art infrastructure that keeps pace with growing demand and meets customer needs. These stations are mainly at Mohammed Bin Rashid Gardens, Airport City, Wadi Al Safa, and Al Yafra 2. The Man Hours on these stations were 601,917 hours according to the highest quality, efficiency, and safety standards.

Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at Dewa, said that the total number of 33kV medium voltage distribution stations currently in service has reached 79 stations while the number of 11kV medium voltage stations has reached 41,722.

Dewa continues its efforts to conduct its work according to set plans, while implementing all the precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 and ensure providing electricity and water supplies according to the highest availability, reliability and accountability standards.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) announced sharing its best practices and success stories in supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)s 2030 through an initiative entitled “SDG Action”.

This step underlines its global excellence and continuous efforts to achieve the wise leadership vision to build a more sustainable environment as well as develop long-term solutions to challenges in accordance with the UN SDGs.

SDG Action is a publishing initiative (both online and hard copy) launched by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) to support the United Nations’ Decade of Action - the global effort to mobilise governments, businesses and civil society to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The website (sdg-action.org) targets sustainability practitioners from all sectors and attracts around 15,000 readers monthly from across the world. Dewa’s articles have been published in both the online and printed editions, alongside contributions from world-renowned experts.

The hard copy edition was launched in 2021 in conjunction with global events such as the SDGs edition in July (for the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development) the Climate Action edition in October (for COP26). These publications were also distributed in relevant events and talks.
