Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) has hosted the Ajman Forum - Central Region Republic of Tunisia for Business, with the event placing a special focus on the sectors of food, plastic and cosmetics.

Conducted virtually, the forum aimed to identify the investment advantages of the Emirate of Ajman and the Republic of Tunisia, and the most prominent areas that could contribute to increasing the volume of trade between the two regions.

 Attending the forum was Eng Abdullah Al Muwaiji, Chairman of Ajman Chamber, Shahir Dajbi, Consul General of the Republic of Tunisia in Dubai; Najib Al-Malouli, President of the Chamber of Commerce in the Central Region of the Republic of Tunisia; Mohammed Al Janahi, Executive Director for Business and Investment Development Division of Ajman Chamber, Marwan Hareb Al Ariani, Director of International Business and Promotion at Ajman Chamber, and a number of businesspersons and representatives of companies and factories from the Emirate of Ajman and the Republic of Tunisia.

In his opening speech at the forum, Eng. Abdullah Al Muwaiji highlighted the significance of the event, saying that it marked the beginning of a series of future co-operation activities between the UAE in general and the Emirate of Ajman in particular and the central region of Tunisia, with the aim of increasing cooperation and partnerships between commercial establishments from both sides and the of developing of relationships in the food, cosmetics, plastics, and other industries.

 Al Muwaiji expressed his hope that the forum will yield direct results that will lead to an increase in the volume of bi-lateral trade and number of investors, especially with the availability of opportunities and the capabilities on both sides.

He stressed Ajman Chamber’s keenness to increase the number of Tunisian establishments in the emirate in light of the diversity of the economy of Ajman, which he said provides ideal opportunities for the Tunisian economy.

He explained the various sectors’ contribution to the emirate’s GDP, of which the construction sector constitutes 20 per cent, the wholesale and retail trade sector 19 per cent, the real estate sector 12 per cent, and the manufacturing sector 19 per cent.

The Emirate of Ajman is currently targeting the development of certain specific sectors, which include tourism, entertainment, education and innovation, as well as industry and higher education.

Najib Al-Malouli, President of the Chamber of Commerce in the Central Region of the Republic of Tunisia said that the forum contributed to strengthening the bonds of cooperation, partnership and investment between businesspersons from Ajman and central Tunisia.

He added that it was an ideal opportunity to advance trade exchanges between the UAE and Tunisia, and to become acquainted closely with the business, investment opportunities available from both sides, as well as the incentives that can be provided by the President of the National Investment Authority to investors.
