Government entities showcase their latest innovations at Gitex

The Gitex Technology Week 2020 that kicked off on Sunday has attracted a large number of government entities as well as technology giants to exhibit their latest innovations. The exhibition is the first physical event, hosted in Dubai.

With exhibitors from over 60 countries around the world, Gitex Technology Week 2020 has an agenda packed with seminars, workshops, and displays. This year’s programme focuses on five promising trends that are set to make a significant impact in the near future, namely: 5G, Artificial Intelligence and Augmented Analytics, Future Mobility, Digital Economies, Cybersecurity and Resilience, and Cloud & Edge Computing.

Abu Dhabi Government: The Abu Dhabi Government is showcasing a range of 88 initiatives and innovative digital projects in its pavilion that creates a unique experience for visitors by introducing a unified platform that features all government entities.

Ali Rashid Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Department of Government Support, expressed his pleasure at the participation, saying that the exhibition represents a perfect opportunity to highlight the digital transformation achievements of the Abu Dhabi Government.

The focus is on four key pillars of “Government Services”, to meet the needs of customers through digital channels and service centres: Government Solutions; promoting cooperation and supporting joint initiatives across various governmental entities and institutions to maximise the value of the initiative’s outputs: Data & Artificial Intelligence; taking advantage of the safe and effective sharing of data to support the decision-making process and enhance government pro-activeness, and Ecosystem Enablement, and driving socio-economic growth by accelerating integration with digital systems, applications, stakeholders, customers, and business partners.

ADHA: The Abu Dhabi Housing Authority is showcasing four key projects, which are: “Digitising Pending Customer Actions”, a feature which allows customers to complete and submit missing data and documents relevant to their applications through digital channels without the need of making a physical visit to customer service centers: “Robotic Process Automation (RPA)”, a quantum leap in the application of artificial intelligence technologies using robotics technology in processing and completing housing applications and one of the most important technical systems adopted by ADHA in its pursuit of developing and enhancing its services: “Qaseemati”, a mapping service that displays land locations with the current and planned community facilities around it, with the ability to link to Google Maps for accurate location data: and the “Geospatial Projects Dashboard”, which enables the management and monitoring of Abu Dhabi projects through an integrated system that displays Emirati projects within the boundaries of Abu Dhabi’s three municipal regions, automating  project reports and integrating them with input received from other strategic stakeholders.

Basheer Khalfan Al Mehairbi, ADHA’s Director-General, said, “Gitex Technology Week 2020 is the ideal platform for ADHA to show that by developing initiatives and adopting technologies that enhance the level of housing services it provides, the Authority is providing solutions that come in line with the wise leadership’s directives to digitise government services, accelerate the digital transformation in Abu Dhabi, and move towards a digital future.”

DUBAI CUSTOMS: Under the theme “We Innovate for a Sustainable Economy”, Dubai Customs is taking part in the exhibition, displaying its latest smart blockchain and AI based innovations and services in the renowned exhibition, which sets the tone of the future of technology in the region and beyond.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director General of Dubai Customs said: “Our projects at Gitex reflect our efforts in achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the city into the happiest and smartest city on earth.’’

Dubai Internet City: During the week-long show, the Dubai Internet City and its business partners will invite visitors to its pavilion to showcase how technology supported the region during recent months and how it will reshape the future of the post-pandemic world.

SMART DUBAI: Bearing the theme ‘Inspiring New Realities’, Smart Dubai’s display at this year’s edition of the event showcases the latest developments and upgrades to its strategies, projects, and services. These include Smart Dubai 2021 Strategy, Dubai Paperless Strategy, Smart Dubai’s various data initiatives, the DubaiNow application, the Government Resource Planning Systems, UAE PASS, Dubai Registers, the City Simulation Dashboard, and Smart Dubai Infrastructure, among others.
