The scope of the project includes construction of a new highway interchange on Sheikh Khalifa Highway (E-12) in Abu Dhabi to provide public access to the first phase of community development on Jubail Island.

Spanning a duration of 18 months, the interchange work is slated for completion in August 2021. The new interchange will include dual-lane entrance and exit ramps, as well as a fully signalised bridge crossing over the highway to connect with the development’s internal roadway network.

With overall infrastructure works on Jubail Island amounting to approximately Dhs600 million, JIIC confirmed that to date infrastructure contracts valued at Dhs486 million have been approved and are currently underway.

JIIC has recently awarded continuing infrastructure works contract worth more than Dhs200 million for Jubail Island to Gulf Contractors Company, GCC. The works are part of the 18-month-long contract to complete the infrastructure required for the remaining residential villages within Phase 1 of the Dhs5 billion project – Nad Al Dhabi, Seef Al Jubail and Ain Al Maha. An Dhs80 million contract for infrastructure works for the initial village and central loop road was previously awarded and announced in mid-December 2019. With overall infrastructure works on Jubail Island cumulatively amounting to approximately Dhs600 million, JIIC confirmed that works worth Dhs400 million are already underway.

The scope of the GCC contract comprises the construction of over 47.5 kilometres of internal roads in Nad Al Dhabi, Seef Al Jubail and Ain Al Maha villages. Infrastructure development, including electricity, water, sewage, irrigation, telecom and gas networks, as well as street lighting are within its ambit.
