Sharjah Chamber issues 4,527 electronic Certificates of Origin

The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), stated that it has issued 4527 electronic Certificates of Origin in March and April, while the total number of memberships until the end of April reached 1215, including 46 new memberships and 1169 renewed memberships. The number of new members from the free zones reached 115 during the same period.

This comes as part of the SCCI’s excellence in delivering outstanding e-services that made businesses more convenient and strengthened the efforts of supporting business sustainability in the emirate.

Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, Director-General, SCCI, said: “The SCCI is keen to deliver seamless and exceptional smart and electronic services, irrespective of the remote work system implemented. This has helped the chamber members and customers to achieve their transactions more conveniently and smoothly.”

“Over the years, the SCCI has invested in its e-services, achieving 100 per cent of the smart transformation, in addition to the cutting-edge digital infrastructure. This has contributed to maintaining our operations and services in these unprecedented circumstances of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) spread.

“The SCCI remains fully committed to its role towards the private sector by finding methods and solutions to face the global challenges and to enhance the competitiveness of the business environment in the emirate. This would help reinforce the SCCI’s role as a representative and supporter of Sharjah’s business community,” Al-Awadi emphasised the chamber’s eagerness to develop and provide integrated smart services, by harnessing the latest remote communication services to keep in touch with partners and customers to ensure the provision of services seamlessly and safely.

Integrated services The website and smart application of the SCCI provide a wide range of integrated services, including the issuance of memberships, certificates of origin, attestations and external transactions, in addition to the possibility of the payment electronically via credit card or prepaid from the account of the registered company.

Also, the SCCI has relocated the service “Burak Robot” for printing the certificates of origin to the main entrance of the chamber’s building.

In addition, the chamber has finalized the electronic linkage with Tas’heel Centers in Al Dhaid, Kalba, and Khor Fakkan to help complete the SCCI services and transactions from these centers.

And as part of the precautionary and preventive measures to curb COVID-19, the SCCI has implemented the remote work system in its headquarters and its branches to maintain the health and safety of its employees and customers.

SCCI, represented by the Sharjah Exports Development Center (SEDC), organised recently a webinar entitled “Helping businesses overcome liquidity issues and sustain in the crisis”.

Held in cooperation with Etihad Credit Insurance (ECI), the webinar aims to get the participants acquainted with the services provided by the ECI, as part of the SCCI’s quest to create developmental programs in the favor of the private sector and the national companies and to help them face the challenges posed by COVID-19 on the export sector.

The event was presented by Abdul Aziz Shattaf, SCCI’s Assistant General Director, Members Services Sector and Director of Sharjah Exports Development Center, Zishan Iqbal, Director of Murabaha Solutions, Majed Julfar, Director of Trade Credit Insurance & Export Financing, and Abdallah Alhosani, Director of Commerical & Distribution, and with the participation of a large number of representatives of economic establishments and industrial and production companies affiliated with the SCCI.
