S.Korea boosts ties with Dubai, NE

Sixty enterprises from the Gyeonggi Province of South Korea are in the UAE for the “3rd Edition of the G Fair Korea—Korea Sourcing Fair in Dubai” at a local hotel in Dubai until Wednesday.

The trade exhibition which features a mix of cosmeceuticals (health/beauty/wellness) and industrial goods and services, which include monitoring and surveillance systems, from the most populous area of South Korea, where the capital of Seoul is located, is part of the economic diplomacy of the Consulate General of the Republic of South Korea in Dubai and the Northern Emirates (NE).

At the welcome dinner for the 100-strong delegation on Monday evening, Consul General Chun Young Wook told Gulf Today that the activity aims to introduce the visiting businessmen and entrepreneurs to the conduct of trade relations within the UAE.

“I invited them here for more friendship and more sharing of business information that will help boost cooperation between the two countries,” said Wook.

He added: “We are looking forward and ahead of the Expo2020 Dubai and the 40th anniversary of the UAE-South Korea diplomatic relations next year. How partnerships and joint ventures either here or in South Korea can be achieved through this business networking and trade fair.”

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regard was signed by Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Director General, Mohammed Amin Al Awadi and Gyeonggi Province Business & Science Accelerator (GPBSA) president Kim Kee-Joon. The MoU seeks to enhance trade relations between SCCI and GPBSA.

The welcome dinner served as an orientation of the visiting delegation to the conduct of business and trade as well as the opportunities they have in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah.

Speakers were Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry-International Relations Director Omar Khan, Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority-Sales Department representative Reajin Hong, Sharjah Research, Technology & Innovation Park chief executive officer Hussain Almahmoudi, Sharjah FDI (Invest in Sharjah)-Promotions Investment manager Diana Yonghui, Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry-Investment & Business Development Department director Marwan Harib, Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone-UAE & GCC Business Development Strategic manager Suhail Mohammed and Korean International Trade Association UAE Centre president Kim Gi-Hyun.
