UAE, Hong Kong trade at $4.6 billion

Daniel Lam said that Hong Kong looks forward more corporations, buyers, distributors and retailers from the UAE.

Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) invited traders from the UAE and the region to participate their upcoming international trade fairs on a variety of industries. A total of nine trade fairs will be held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) between September 7 to November 9, 2019.

The UAE is Hong Kong’s 17th largest trading partner. Until May 2019, the total trade value between the two places reached $4.6 billion. In which, the UAE was Hong Kong’s 14th major export market with a total export value of $2.74 billion and 17th largest import source with an import value of $1.86 billion.

Speaking at a press conference in Dubai, Daniel Lam, MEA Regional Director of HKTDC, said, “The nine international fairs covering watches and clocks, fashion, electronic products, lighting products, green products and optical products, will be held in Hong Kong from September to November. These fairs will serve as ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from the UAE to expand their businesses into new markets. Hong Kong and the UAE have enjoyed robust bilateral trade relations on a range of products and services over the years.”

Hong Kong looks forward more corporations, buyers, distributors and retailers from the UAE to explore business opportunities and tap into global markets to source products and solutions from the HKTDC exhibitions. “The HKTDC’s 30 fairs attracted over 39,000 exhibitors and over 770,000 visitors from all over the world in 2018/2019.” Daniel Lam said.

The fairs included are HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, CENTRESTAGE, HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), electronicAsia, HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), HKTDC Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, Eco Expo Asia – International Trade Fair on Environmental Protection and HKTDC Hong Kong International Optical Fair.
