Al Jazira down Khorfakkan in six-goal thriller, Dibba hold Al Ain

Al Jazira settled a six-goal thriller after securing a 4-2 win over Khorfakkan in matchweek six of the Adnoc Pro League on Saturday.

After a bad-tempered clash, three goals in the first half and another one in the second half ensured the three points for Al Jazira.

Al Jazira started the game so fiercely as early as after only seven minutes when Oumar Traore put the hosts in front with a sublime strike from the edge of the penalty area.

It’s Traore’s second goal from outside the box since his first one against Shabab Al Ahli in November 2020.

Eleven minutes later, Mamadou Coulibaly doubled his side’s lead when he picked up the ball outside the box, beat two defenders, and fired a right-footed effort into the bottom corner.

Khorfakkan managed to hold Al Jazira’s domination and reduced their threats a bit as they succeeded in reducing the deficit after 23 minutes.

Lourency Do fired a side-footed strike from the edge of the penalty area into the top corner to pull one back for Khorfakkan.

The Pride of Abu Dhabi dominated the game again and pressed for the third goal as they got what they wanted in the 34th minute.

Mohamed Rabi latched onto a pinpoint cross from the left flank as he picked up the ball and kept his composure to slot it into the bottom corner.

As a result of their monumental dominance of the game, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick as Neeskens Kebano successfully converted from the spot three minutes after the hour-mark.

Lourency Do dispatched a 78th-minute penalty to reduce the margin for Khorfakkan.

In another match, Ajman and Al Wasl shared the spoils after playing out a goalless draw at Rashid Bin Saeed Stadium.

It was a cagey game affair with no real threats towards both goalkeepers.

Al Orooba secured their first win of the season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Bani Yas.

This long-awaited victory gave Al Orooba their first three points, moving them to 12th place in the standings, while Bani Yas remained in 9th place with 7 points.

The match started perfectly for Al Orooba, with Mohammad Reza scoring early in the 4th minute by following up on a loose ball from a corner kick.

His goal, timed at 3 minutes and 13 seconds, marked the fastest goal in Al Orooba’s ADNOC Pro League history.

Bani Yas pressed hard to respond after the early setback, launching several attacks in search of an equalizer. However, Al Orooba’s well-organized defense frustrated the visitors, preventing them from creating clear scoring opportunities.

The Togolese striker fought to equalize the scoring, and he got what he wanted in the dying moments of the game when Felipe Salomoni squared for Kodjo, who sent a slow rolling ball between the legs of goalkeeper Suhail Abdulla that trickled over the goal line.

Al Wahda fought back from a goal down as Omar Khribin grabbed a hat-trick in a thrilling 3-1 win over Kalba.

Kalba lit up the game with a goal blitz after eight minutes from Shahriyar Moghanloo to silence the Al Nahyan crowd.

However, the hosts were livelier after fourteen minutes and broke Kalba’s resistance with Khribin’s brace in the first half, before hitting his hat-trick in the second half.
