Bumrah to captain India as Rohit ruled out of fifth England Test

Jasprit Bumrah has been named as skipper and Rishabh Pant his deputy in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out with COVID-19, for the rescheduled final Test match against England scheduled to begin on Friday.

The Indian selection committee named Bumrah and Pant as captain and vice-captain respectively following Rohit’s RAT Test report, which returned a positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

The Friday’s fifth and the final Test match of the series was postponed just hours before its scheduled start in Manchester last September because of the coronavirus concerns in the Indian squad.

Visitors lead the 5-match Test series 2-1. England’s pacer James Anderson has been recalled for series decider against India.
