NAS win 18th edition of League of Mammoths

Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Mammoths registered an easy win over Banke in the final of the 18 th edition of the DCC’s League of Mammoths at the Sevens Oval 1.

Put into bat, NAS posted 177 for 8 in 25 overs. Later their bowlers did a splendid job of bowling Banke out for just 133 in 21 overs to win convincingly by 44 runs.

Banke’s bowlers backed their skipper Porush Jhunjhunwala’s decision to send NAS in first with early strikes.

Mahendra Mota removed both NAS openers Sangit Gopinath (2) and captain Devarajan Srinivasan (4) cheaply.

Later Harvinder Singh struck in the middle overs to get rid of Parikshit (5) and Mohammad Kaif (0). With Adnan caught in no man’s land and struggling to make his crease in going for a run NAS found themselves struggling on 71 for 5.

Banke looked like they had NAS by the scruff of their neck when man of the match Raman deep Sharma and Vinay Tolani’s 78 run partnership helped steady the rocking boat of NAS.

Vinay departed after chipping in with 36 runs. Raman deep was looking good for a century but in a mixup ran himself out for 73.

With the help of Devendra Taneja’s (11) and Sharan Pinto’s (12) and 21 extras, NAS reached a decent 177.

Banke thought they had done well but were mistaken as NAS bowlers were right on top of their game hardly giving the Banke batsmen time to settle down.

Porush (31) and a gutsy 43 from Sheridan Hadfield tried to put up a fight but in vain after Sunil Gagwani (3-26), Sharan Pinto (3-18) and Adnan (3-30) smothered Banke’s hopes of a win.
