Fourth Sharjah Labour Sports even ends on high note as LSDA crown winners

Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority crowned the winners of the various disciplines of the fourth edition of Sharjah Labour Sports Tournament at a glittering ceremony held on Friday.

The three-month long event was organized by the authority on the sports fields of Sharjah National Park in cooperation with the Sharjah Sports Council where about 1000 players forming 60 teams participated in the tournament in five games including football, basketball, volleyball, hockey and cricket.

The closing ceremony was graced by Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Council, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Saqr bin Hamad Al Qasimi, Director of the Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah, and Tariq Salem Al Khanbashi, Chairman of the organising company, Reach Target.

Head of sport bodies and representatives of the participating teams were also present on the occasion.

Qaseer expressed his satisfaction over the success of the fourth edition of the tournament, held over a period of three months in a healthy and competitive manner.

He hailed the commitment of all teams to the precautionary measures adopted in the country against the COVID-19.

"The Labour Standards Development Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah has been organizing the tournament since 2018, at the instructions and support of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who directed us to emphasize on sports as a lifestyle for workers, and to entertain them.

“The success of the tournament was also attributed to the direct follow up of Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, Chairman of the Executive Council. This success in organizing the tournament is a success for the Emirate of Sharjah in merging workers into the general sports scene of the emirate, which is witnessing a remarkable boom in all group and individual games.

"We congratulate the winning teams, and extend our thanks to the Sharjah Sports Council, the organizing company Reach Target and all the authorities concerned in Sharjah for their efforts in having such a successful tournament that reflects the keen interest of Sharjah Emirate and the UAE in sports and making it available to all the segments of the society,” Qaseer added.

Hazami expressed his satisfaction over the success achieved by the tournament, stressing that the event represented the importance of sports and reflects the importance of sports as a lifestyle.

The tournament also reflects the keen interest of the Emirate of Sharjah and the UAE in using sports to build bridges of friendship and harmony and strengthening relationships among all sectors of the society, especially the workers who are playing an important role in the country’s growth and development.

Tariq Salem Al Khanbashi, Chairman of Reach Target company that organizes the tournament, thanked in his speech Labour Standards Development Authority in Sharjah for its confidence in assigning the organisation to the company.

Fast team emerged winner in the soccer tournament after National Paints team in the final

In basketball, the Abu Shagara team were crowned champion while Only Fresh team took top honours uin volleyball contest. Falcon team were crowned winners of the hockey competition.
