Egypt condemns confiscation of UNRWA HQ in Jerusalem

Egypt condemned on Sunday the announcement made by Israel on Thursday on the confiscation of the land housing the UNRWA HQ in Jerusalem in order to build a settlement.

The statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned about Israel's frequent and persistent attempts to bring an end to the agency's activities. It added that Israel had launched a systematic campaign to tarnish the UNRWA's reputation and liquidate the Palestinian Cause.

Egypt described those steps as violations of international law, humanitarian international law, UN charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions. Egypt demanded the council to fulfil its duties pertinent to preserving international peace and security.

Egypt also called on the international community to support the UNRWA in the face of Israeli targeting.
