Abu Dhabi Court of Family, Civil and Administrative Cases obligated a club to pay Dhs20,000 in compensation to a girl who slipped while she was in the club after crossing a wet area while leaving the bathroom, which resulted in a fracture in her right hand bone.
The details of the case date back to an earlier time when a girl filed a lawsuit against a club requesting the club to pay her a compensation of Dhs100,000 for the damages she incurred and a legal interest of 12% from the date of filing the lawsuit until full payment, as well as the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the lawyer's fees.
The girl said that while she was in the club, she crossed a wet area, which resulted in her slipping and sustaining a fracture in her right hand bone, in addition to other material and moral damages.
The appellant's lawyer and the club's lawyer attended and presented documents related to the case that were reviewed by the court.
In another session, the appellant’s lawyer submitted a memorandum demanding to amend the appellant’s requests to obligate the club to pay her Dhs51,000 in compensation for material and moral damages, and a legal interest of 12% from the date of the lawsuit until full payment.
The court said that the appellee's lawyer should have submitted the memorandum during the case’s preparation stage, and therefore the court rejected it.
The court confirmed that the accident report issued by the club’s employee proved that while the appellant was leaving the bathroom, she slipped and fell down, and then the court obligated the club to pay her Dhs20,000 in compensation for all damages.
