Corporal Ghadeer Hammoud Al Ka’abi of the General Directorate of Civil Defence of Dubai helped save 24 people, including women and children, from a fire which gutted a popular house while he was passing by it.
In the presence of senior Dubai Police officers, Major General Expert Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police, honoured Al Ka’abi for his courage and good reaction. Al Mansouri thanked Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Civil Defence in Dubai, and all working staff for their tremendous efforts and sense of responsibility to help people and preserve their lives, stressing that the work carried out by the Directorate is heroic.
Al-Mansouri also thanked Corporal Al Ka’abi for his prompt action in entering the house amidst the fire and smoke to save the lives and property of its residents. In the details, a fire gutted two cars, a tent, and an annexe inside the popular house, which spread quickly due to the high temperatures, while Al Ka’abi coincidentally passed by the place.
When he saw the fumes rising and that the house’s gate was closed, he rapidly contacted the Operations Room, reported the fire, and then entered the house, to find that there were women and children inside, so he hurriedly took them out and kept them away from the flames and fumes.
He also helped an injured person until the ambulance and Civil Defence teams arrived, whose prompt intervention contributed to saving 24 members of different families before the fire caught them. Al Ka’abi thanked the Dubai Police General Command for honouring him, stressing that what he did was his professional duty and humanitarian work which he did as a member of the General Directorate of Civil Defence.
