Court obligates employee to return Dhs431000 he embezzled

The Abu Dhabi Court for Family and Civil and Administrative Cases obligated an employee to return to his company Dhs431,000 which he had embezzled through invoices.

The company filed a lawsuit demanding that the employee be obligated to pay Dhs431,000 and the interest, besides paying material and moral compensation of Dhs120,000, as well as fees, expenses, and lawyer’s fees.

The company said that it suspected the invoices the emploeee submitted and after conducting an investigation, it was found that he embezzled amounts of money through them.

The company added that it had previously filed a criminal case against the employee, in which the criminal court convicted him and obligated him to pay Dhs51,000 in compensation.

The court indicated that the penal ruling already convicted the employee of embezzlement of Dhs431,000 from the employer, and then the element of error has been proved conclusively, pointing out that the criminal court obligated the suspect to pay the employer Dhs51,000 in compensation, and that this compensation was sufficient.

The court accordingly obligated the employee to pay the employer Dhs431,000 in addition to the fees and expenses of the case and the lawyer’s fees.
