Ajman Police ‘Drone’ carries out 319 security and traffic missions

The Air Support Centre "Drone" at the Ajman Police carried out 319 security and traffic missions a year after its launch, using drones, which contributed to supporting field operations and traffic control and enhancing security and safety in the emirate of Ajman.

Captain Rashid Al Attar, Director of Operations Branch at the Traffic and Patrols Department in Ajman Police, said that the Air Support Centre, since its inception, has launched drones equipped with the latest smart technologies, to provide air support to police teams.

He added that the Drone centre has carried out 20 security and air reconnaissance missions, and 299 traffic missions since its inception, during a flight period of 13,598 minutes, providing air support for traffic and security patrols.

“The Air Support Centre provides support through the implementation of exploration missions on the roads, to see the causes of traffic congestion.

In cases of congestion resulting due to accidents and if there is a difficulty in reaching the scene of the accident, a drone is sent to explore the accident and the seriousness of the cases,” Al Attar pointed out.

He indicated that the drones are equipped with the latest monitoring and control technologies, as they can take pictures of the details of the vehicle’s number plate from a distance of 1,000 metres. It can fly more than 15 kilometres away from the control device, to be controlled by another device to complete its mission. It can also perform tasks at both day time and night time.
