Unlicensed private school shuts down after collecting tuition fees in Ajman

In an incident that is the first of its kind in the UAE, an “unlicensed” private school in the Emirate of Ajman collected tuition fees from students for the current academic year 2022-2023, then closed its doors and its director and staff disappeared.

Commenting on the incident, the Ministry of Education indicated that the school was not licensed and did not exist in the licensing records, calling on parents to investigate the accuracy when choosing a school to enroll their children in.

The Ministry also said that it had coordinated with the competent departments to provide the opportunity for students wishing to enroll in other school.

For their part, the parents who enrolled their children in that school stressed that they and their children are in a real predicament, after that school had collected the tuition fees and closed its doors.

They appealed to the authorities to intervene quickly to recover the amounts they paid, and to provide seats for their children in other schools, especially the school year has already passed a full month.

The school has been shut down by a decision of the Commercial Control and Protection Department at the Department of Economic Development in Ajman, on September 13, 2022.

In accordance with the decision, it is not permissible to open it except after reviewing the DED.

The Department also warned against removing the label without the department's permission, in order to avoid the legal accountability.
