A private vehicle collided with a truck on Al Taawun Street, causing the latter to swerve from its lane and be stuck with the concrete barrier on the side of the road.
Sharjah Police’s operations room received a report at 2:15pm on Tuesday, stating that a light vehicle collided with a truck for transporting heavy-duty equipment on Al Taawun Street leading to the Sahara Centre and traffic patrols and ambulances rushed to the scene of the accident.
The preliminary investigations showed that the driver of the truck, which was loaded with heavy-duty excavation equipment and machinery, tried to avoid the car that swerved as it climbed the bridge leading to Sahara Centre but lost control of the truck.
As a result, the truck collided with the car and swerved from its lane to be stuck with the concrete barrier on the shoulder of the road, obstructing the movement of vehicles on the road.
Policemen managed to find an alternative road to facilitate the traffic flow until the truck stuck on the shoulder of the road was cleared.
No casualties were reported as a result of the accident and the light vehicle sustained some damage as a result of the collision.
