Florida bride served marijuana-laced food at her wedding, arrested

A Florida woman has been arrested for putting marijuana in the food she served at her wedding, without the guests knowing about it, according to the local press in the southeastern state of the United States.

The dishes in which the weed was placed, with the connivance of the party planner, caused symptoms for a number of guests, including a rapid heartbeat, while others became paranoid, which necessitated the intervention of paramedics, and prompted the authorities in Seminole County, Central Florida, to arrest the bride and the person responsible for the food.

Court documents revealed that Douglas Postma, the uncle of the groom who was present at the wedding of Andrew Svoboda and Danya Shea Svoboda on February 19, felt that after eating some salad, pastries and bread, his heart was racing, and that “crazy” thoughts were forming in himself.

As for Postma's wife, who felt more serious symptoms, she had to go to the emergency department of the hospital, as the medical team that examined her discovered traces of the chemical THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), which causes the psychological effect of cannabis.

The bride's friend, Miranda Cady, who ate bread with olive oil, felt that "her heart will stop," according to the same source.

It was Cady who asked the caterer Joycelin Montrinice Bryant if she had added cannabis to the food, and the caterer confirmed that she had put marijuana in the food.

The bride also confirmed that the food was laced with cannabis, appearing enthusiastic about her prank.

Danya and Bryant will be prosecuted for violating Florida's food tampering law, as well as for negligent provision of marijuana.

They are scheduled to appear in court in June, according to CNN.
