Ajman Police arrest juvenile for stealing cars

The security teams at the Ajman Police arrested a 16-year-old juvenile from a GCC state for robbing vehicles in the Al Jurf area, Ajman. The juvenile reportedly targeted cars left unlocked by owners, so that he could open them and steal any precious items.

He appeared in a video suspiciously checking doors of vehicles at night in the above mentioned area, as he opened the door of a car from which he stole a laptop. In the meantime, the security teams also arrested the person who shared videotaped videos from surveillance cameras of the incident on the social networking sites, intending to spread rumours and panic by claiming that houses were being exposed to burglaries, which affects the stability of security in the emirate.

Lt. Col. Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of Criminal Investigations Department, said that the competent security teams initiated the investigation into the incident upon monitoring videotaped videos from surveillance cameras in homes spread on the social networking sites for a robbery incident. The teams were able to identify and arrest the juvenile immediately within a few hours, as he was found searching unlocked vehicles with the intention of stealing what was left in them.

On interrogating the juvenile, he said that he was suffering from difficult family conditions, which forced him to steal from vehicles, Lt. Col. Al Nuaimi added, stressing that there was no cause for concern. The juvenile has been referred to the competent authorities for rehabilitation, while the person who shared the videos has been referred to the Public Prosecution, Al Nuaimi said.

He stressed that the Ajman Police would deal firmly with anyone who spread rumours intending to affect the social stability and security. The Ajman Police called on the public to secure their vehicles, ensure that they are locked, and avoid keeping valuables inside to avoid being stolen, warning against sharing or spreading any graphic material that might raise concerns among community members and create rumours.
