RAK Police to fine vehicles with unclear number plates

The Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police has launched a campaign to detect vehicle number plates with unclear numbers.

The move follows the directives of Major General Ali Abdullah Bin Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police.

The campaign is aimed at imposing fines on vehicles with one number plate and vehicles with distorted or unclear number plates, whose data has been obliterated or hidden.

This is done with a view to strengthen the rule of law, maintaining order and protecting public and private rights.

Brigadier Ahmed Al Samm Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, explained that the campaign seeks to monitor how clear number plates are and to impose fines on offenders.

Article 27 of the Traffic Law stipulates that a fine of Dhs400 will be imposed on owners of vehicles with unclear number plates.

Al Naqbi urged drivers not to cover number plates or hide their data in any way, and warned drivers against hanging objects such as bicycles on top of the number plate that would hide its data in order to avoid fines and deterrent measures.
