Sharjah Civil Defence teams douse fire at auto parts' warehouse

Sharjah Civil Defence teams doused a fire that broke out at a warehouse in the industrial area on Sunday afternoon.

No casualties were reported, an official source confirmed, however, some material losses were reported.

The operations room of the Civil Defense Department in Sharjah received a report at 12:40 pm stating that a warehouse for auto spare parts and scrap had caught fire in the Industrial Area 8.

Instantly, the firefighting squads were dispatched to the scene accompanied by ambulances and police patrols, the source added.

“Upon reaching the site of the fire, the firefighting teams cordoned off the area with the support of the police patrols and evacuated the workers from the neighbouring warehouses," the source said.

"The CIvil Defence teams extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading to the other warehouses, which often contain flammable materials,” the source said.

The cooling operations continued at the site after distinguishing the fire to prevent it from recurring.

The competent teams then examined the fire site to determine the causes of the fire, the sources added.
