Dhs1,000 fine for tossing used face masks and gloves on roads: Abu Dhabi Police

Throwing masks and gloves away on roads and public utilities, after using them entails a fine of Dhs1,000, and 6 traffic points, according to Abu Dhabi Police.

The police said throwing masks and gloves after using them poses health and environmental risks to our society. The police urged the community to adopt positive behaviour which promotes environmental conservation and the bright cultural appearance of cities.

The police stated the Traffic Law, Article 71 stipulates, “Throwing waste from vehicles on the road is considered a violation while driving”, which incurs a fine of Dhs1,000 and 6 traffic points. It explained that this behaviour may transmit diseases, affirming that commitment to preventive and preventive measures is a shared responsibility between everybody.

The police called for the necessity of cooperating with the health authorities to care for health, safety and the environment by disposing of used gloves and masks in garbage containers.

Earlier, Abu Dhabi Police have warned against suspicious links sent via social media and emails, urging the public to look out for such text scams.

They advised users not to click on any suspicious links, which could be fraudulent and in most cases have nothing to do with the institution fraudsters claim to be affiliated with.

Text scams may include links for travel websites for cancelling prior bookings on coronavirus outbreak, or links to download some social apps, which could be maliciously designed to hack personal data, including user names, passwords and credit card numbers.

Users are strongly advised to verify the authenticity of these websites and links and never to reveal their confidential data or transfer money under threat. They are also requested to immediately report any such malicious attempts to Abu Dhabi Police by calling 8002626, or email [email protected]. to report any cybercrime.

Last month, in line with the directive of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, ADJD,  suspended enforcement procedures of arrest orders and imprisonment of individuals, except in maintenance and labour enforcement cases.
