Hailstones blanket UAQ amid heavy showers

UMM AL QUWAIN: Medium to heavy showers lashed the emirate of Umm Al Quwain on Sunday morning accompanied by hailstones blanketing large areas in the emirate.
The Al Salama area in particular witnessed heavy rains with hailstones, while the Al Rafea’h area and other neighborhoods witnessed medium to heavy rainfall.
Many of the emirate’s residents shared lovely videos and pictures on social media of the showers and hailstones.
On the other hand, the Traffic and Patrol Department at Umm Al Quwain Police appealed to the public to exercise caution during weather fluctuations, wishing safety to all.Khalid Al-Zer’ai, a UAE national living in Umm Al Quwain, said that most areas of the emirate witnessed a large turnout of residents and tourists from different parts of the country, to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere. The scene was so fantastic to see the heavy rain accompanied by hailstones, while people joyfully touched and collected the hailstones, he added.
Meanwhile, Rashid Humaid noted that people in the emirate took advantage of such a pleasant weather, which prevailed in most of the emirate, and flocked to the area with their children. They were thrilled by the fresh winds and cold weather.The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts that today's weather will be cloudy and partly cloudy to cloudy over most areas with different rainfall sometimes, which will be thunderous on different areas. Winds will be southeasterly to northeasterly active and sometimes strong especially on the sea, stirring duty along the exposed areas. Visibility could be affected. The sea may remain turbulent to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.
