Sharjah Youth and Sheraa launch programme on entrepreneurship

Sharjah Youth, an affiliate of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, in collaboration with Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa), has organised a 5-day programme on entrepreneurship for youth, as part of its ‘Let’s Summer’ camp.

The training, which concludes this Thursday, is designed to nurture the creative ideas of Sharjah Youth members and teach them how to transform viable ideas into successful projects.

Conducted by Faris Abu Baker, Outreach Coordinator at Sheraa, the workshop’s goal is to nurture and share the participants’ ideas with relevant entities to transform them into projects and products that can compete in the marketplace.

The workshop taught participants the basic skills required to launch a project. They also learned how to research unique ideas and take them to the next level, based on the principle that successful entrepreneurial projects result from a thorough understanding of the industry, knowledge exchange and extensive market and social research.

During the training, members were introduced to successful projects that stemmed from creative ideas, the challenges they faced and how they were overcome.

Mariam Al Salman, Manager of the Corporate Communications Department at Sharjah Youth, said: “The cooperation between Sharjah Youth and Sheraa comes as part of our mutual vision to nurture and advance the skillsets of youth and provide them a platform to share their ideas and transform them into viable projects.”

She added: “The workshop emphasises the importance of creativity, brainstorming and collaboration in converting ideas into projects. This will help the young participants develop entrepreneurial skills, which is in line with Sharjah’s goal to nurture children and youth in all fields.”

 Mohammed Saeed Al Mazrouei, a participant, said the programme provided him with the necessary tools and first steps to transform his ideas into successful projects.

 Fellow participant Obaid Adel shared the same view. He joined the programme to gain knowledge and expertise related to his future academic pursuit in marketing and sales.

 Khalifah Jamal said the knowledge he gained from the workshop would be of immense value as he was in the process of developing a smart parking app with his friends at Sharjah Youth.

Sharjah Youth, an affiliate of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, focuses on creativity and innovation as well as on the early identification and shaping of young talents aged 13-18. Sharjah Youth is a youth-centered organisation that offers young people a nurturing and attractive environment where they can practice their hobbies and acquire skills through the entity’s eight centers in different regions of Sharjah.

 It aims to equip youth with the experience and tools that help enhance their national identity and qualify them to take on leadership roles and contribute to advancing Emirati society. Sharjah Youth was established in 2004 under an Emiri decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Meanwhile the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) held recently at its headquarters a coordination meeting with the Sharjah Police with the participation of representatives from a number of local departments.

The meeting aimed to discuss the launch of a number of community initiatives, as well as to strengthen the constant cooperation between the SCCI and the Sharjah Police.

This would help contribute to integrating the concerted efforts to realise the economic development in the Emirate of Sharjah and the relentless pursuit of serving the society in general and the business community in particular.

Present at the meeting were Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Representative Committee of the Real Estate Sector Business Group, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Al Marri, Director of the Community Police Department, Sharjah Police, Jamal Bu Zinjal, Head of Media Department, SCCI.

The meeting was also attended by Ali Bamatraf, Manager of Performance & Excellence Progress at Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) and the permanent member of the Representative Committee of the Real Estate Sector Business Group, Adel Omar Salem, Director of Control and Municipal Inspection Department at Sharjah Municipality, Sawsan Butti Hadid, Head of Demolition and Maintenance Department at Sharjah Municipality, Lieutenant Colonel Hamad bin Qasmul, Lieutenant Colonel Jassim Al Suwaidi, and Captain Hussein Suleiman, Amjad Awad al Karim, Head of the Sectoral Business Groups Department, and Fatima Khamis Al-Shehhi Executive Operations, Sectoral Business Groups Department at the SCCI.

Saeed Ghanem Al Suwaidi stressed the importance of this meeting in terms of sharing experiences and developing joint initiatives and projects. It also reflects the keenness to strengthen partnership relations to achieve mutual benefit, so as positively contribute to the development process in the Emirate of Sharjah.
