Thousands of school teachers and administrative staff to resume duty on Monday

The teaching, administrative and technical staff of public and private schools following the ministerial curriculum in all emirates will start the new academic year on Monday (Aug. 22), 2022, while schools will receive students in all stages of education next Monday (Aug.29).

According to sources, the total number of teachers, administrators and technicians amounts to 141,291, of whom 43,800 are in government schools, and 97,491 are in private schools, awaiting for The Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE) to declare the new updates regarding the number of newly appointed teachers who will undergo a continuous training programme.

According to sources, the number of days of the academic year will be 188, according to the school calendar approved by the Ministerial Development Council.

The winter vacation for educational and administrative staff is scheduled on Dec. 19, 2022, until Jan.1, 2023, and for students, on Dec.12, 2022, until Jan.1, 2023, provided that the schooling for all students and other staffs will begin on Jan.2, 2023.

The spring vacation for educational and administrative staff is scheduled on April 3, 2023, until Friday, April 14, 2023, and for students on March 27, 2023, until Friday, April 14, 2023, provided that the schooling for all students and other staffs for the third semester will start on Monday, April 17, 2023.

Sources added that the last school day will be Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

A number of public and private school principals affirmed their readiness to start the new academic year first by receiving teachers, administrators and technicians next Monday. They stressed that work is underway to complete all types of maintenance work, in preparation for receiving students the following week.
