Sheikh Hamdan reiterates support to Jebel Ali Racecourse

The Jebel Ali Racecourse will stage its fourth meeting of the new season on Friday, which is highlighted by 1400m race sponsored by Derrinstown Stud.

The third race on the six-race card offers Dhs125,000 as prize money and has attracted a quality field of 14 runners.

Satish Seemar saddles four in the race including The Song of John, Dubai Canal, Leadership and Underwriter.

Another highlight of the Friday’s meeting is 1800m handicap sponsored by Shadwell. The race features 10 runners with Rio Tigre, Moqarrar and Tafaakhor representing the colours of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.

The meeting will begin with 1600m race for Thoroughbred.

Speaking to the media, Mirza Al Sayegh, Director of the Office of Sheikh Hamdan, reiterated Sheikh Hamdan’s keen interest in the popular racecourse.

“Sheikh Hamdan has been a long-time supporter and patron of Jebel Ali Racecourse, which he has a lot of respect for.

“Sheikh Hamdan has instructed that every effort should be made to further develop Jebel Ali Racecourse. He wants to see more growth in various aspects,” he added.

“Recently, he has instructed all his endurance trainers to welcome and advise any young rider, who is interested in knowing more about the sport or even wants to learn how to ride.

“It’s a great privilege for us to stand behind the efforts of the patron of the facility Sheikh Ahmed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the best interest of the equine sport which has flourished beyond our expectations,” he added.

Shareef Al Halawani, Jebel Ali Racecourse manager, said:” This is a very good card for the fourth meeting of the season.

“Since the start of the season the Jebel Ali has attracted big names and this week also some interesting contests are lined up.”
