Sheikh Fahim hails success of UAE teams at Pan Arab Golf C’ships

Representing the UAE Ladies national team at the competition were Reema Al Heloo, Alia Al Emadi, and Hamda Al Suwaidi. This was the 11th edition of the Pan Arab Ladies Championship, which is continuing to see growth in participation each year.
Making the success sweeter for the UAE, the U-13 cubs also bagged a bronze. The Boys 13 & Under Division was introduced for the first time at the event and the UAE took bronze in their first appearance through the pair of Rashed Al Jassmy and Sultan Al Jassmy. The brothers shared a good chemistry and have worked hard in the Emirates Golf Federation National Junior Development Programme.
The Jassmys also represented the UAE on the 15 & Under Team at the GCC Golf Championship where the team finished with the silver prize.
Sheikh Fahim Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Arab and Emirates Golf Federations, hailed the achievement of the teams while stressing that the UAE golf was on the right track.
Sheikh Fahim praised the efforts and results achieved by the UAE teams in the tournament, which saw the participation of more than 115 athletes from 11 countries.
The president of the Arab and UAE Golf Federations said that the results reflect the continuous development of UAE golf.
“The Under-13 team came third in the championship which highlights the importance of the strategy of the Emirates Golf Federation in terms of its National Junior Development Programme, aiming to create new generations of champions who can fly the UAE flag high at the international and local stage.
“The brothers, Rashid and Sultan, together with Abdullah Al Suwaidi, represent the future of the UAE golf, especially as they are the product of National Junior Development Programme that has been developing and identifying talent,” Sheikh Fahim added.
Moroccos Atlantic Lions team topped the junior U-13, 15, 18-year-old categories.
“Our teams have been working hard over the summer and the past four months in preparation for this event. We hosted a summer camp and multiple team qualifiers in order to select the best players to represent the UAE,” said Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, UAE national team manager and Emirates Golf Federation Secretary General.
