Abu Dhabi’s vital role

COVID-19 vaccine trial in UAE

Abu Dhabi Ports is playing a vital role with its logistics capabilities for the distribution of more than 70 million COVID-19 vaccines.

The world is waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine. Among the medical and media storylines about the COVID-19 pandemic the vaccine tested in the UAE — over 31,000 volunteers have taken part in the clinical Phase 3 trials — shows promise for the elderly and children first (“Abu Dhabi Ports ready to store, distribute 70m virus vaccines,” Nov.29, Gulf Today).

And for that Abu Dhabi Ports is playing a vital role in the global fight against COVID-19 with enhanced logistics capabilities for the storage and distribution of more than 70 million COVID-19 vaccines.

Good to read what Dr Jamal Mohammed Alkaabi, Undersecretary of Department of Health — Abu Dhabi said about those efforts, which are providing logistical capabilities that will position the UAE as a distinguished local, regional, and global distribution hub. Coronavirus deaths topped 400,000 on Saturday in Europe, the world’s second worst-hit region, as parts of the continent began to reopen shops for the holiday season.  As he said, “At the Department of Health, we have aligned our vaccine storage processes with the best international practices governing the long-term storage of pharmaceutical products, which will ensure the efficiency of vaccines.

“Our Department of Health-licensed facility fully integrates the movement of cargo with state-of-the-art temperature, humidity, and refrigeration-controlled technology.”
