His Highness Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has welcomed Grade 1 students from RAK Academy’s International Primary School Khuzam, in a friendly and interactive meeting.

The meeting reflects Sheikh Saud’s commitment to encouraging children and youth, and his dedication to providing them with all the requirements for a happy childhood, as well as ensuring their access to top-quality education.

During a tree-planting exercise with the students, the Ras Al Khaimah Ruler asserted that meeting children is an opportunity to communicate with a world that is innocent, pure and spontaneous, and that "children represent our joy in the present and our hope for a bright future.”

Together they planted seedlings of the Samar tree, with the aim of instilling in the children an awareness of environmental issues and introducing them to the importance of sustainability.

The Samar tree is indigenous to the mountains and valleys of Ras Al Khaimah and is closely related to the heritage of the UAE. Its nectar produces one of the finest types of honey, with high nutritional value.

Sheikh Saud underlined the importance of providing all the necessary elements to help children develop a balanced personality, in addition to ensuring their access to education through modern and advanced methods. "This is a top priority, and Ras Al Khaimah is committed to providing a happy childhood for its people,” he said.

The Ruler of RAK participated in lively talks with the students about their sporting hobbies, their favourite places to visit in Ras Al Khaimah and their hopes for the future of the environment, and he encouraged them to expand their knowledge by reading books, to express their feelings and thoughts to their families, and to show their friends the values of honesty, love and compassion.
